You will be picked up from the airport and transferred to a Nairobi for volunteer safari orientation with an orphanage administrator or a project manager   over a cup of coffee or tea, after which you will rest in a Nairobi budget hotel awaiting transfer to in the following day depending on whether you will be working in Nairobi or outside, or as agreed depending on your time of arrival in.

Once at the orphanage and having identified the volunteer program you would like to participate in, you will take the opportunity to make a difference and experience life in this rural Kenya locality, where lives have been impacted by poverty, unemployment and HIV/AIDS. Volunteers get involved in various community volunteer programs.
There are over a million orphans in Kenya mainly due to AIDS, from which only 5% get volunteers support. There is a big need for assistance in Kenya orphanages and children’s homes. We will visit for firsthand experience, home to see children that come from different backgrounds and that have been affected by disability, abuse, poverty or illness. These children are in desperate need of love and attention. Many of them are developmentally delayed and need extra attention in order to promote their development. The orphanage offers opportunities for us to become involved in daily activities including helping with teaching and organizing activities that promote the well being of the children. Another important role for volunteers is to assist the caregivers in their daily task of maintaining the home and cooking food while the children are at school. We may also be needed to do practical work, such as painting or building, in order to improve the orphanage and making it a better home for the children. No experience necessary.
